Kabila, Fayulu cast their vote as Democratic Republic of Congo heads to the polls
Outgoing Democratic Republic of the Congo President Joseph Kabila voted Sunday, along with the presidential candidate he is backing, Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, and opposition candidate Martin Fayulu.Voting in the Democratic Republic of the Congo got off to a rocky start on Sunday because of torrential rains and long delays at some polling stations. Kabila, who has been in power since his father's assassination in 2001, is due to step down after the vote. Kabila has faced accusations that he sought to delay elections in the country to ensure his preferred successor would be elected, so that he could continue to wield power behind the scenes.
